dedicated to meghan ferguson mráz (1984-2019)
IN PROCESS // past lives & mother lines: stories of an artist named jupiter (b.1984) weaves original prose, artifact, and illustration into a full length novel. it is accompanied by a chapbook-length collection of poetry, 33: a prologue. both volumes grow out of the infinite scroll project, and they are in process now.
33: a prologue and past lives & mother lines will be translated to openly accessible digital formats and to limited edition artist’s book folios. the folios will be hand bound with silk screened covers, frontispieces, and inserts, based on original handcut collages and drawings (see images above).
additionally, these volumes move into new literary territory; while still sharing autobiographical stories, they play with names, timelines, and narrative elements throughout, to give a different kind of arm's length to the writing and make a different kind of invitation through the reading.
thematically, these volumes strive to remember me-and-us to the infinite ancestral web from which we all are made, through which we all find ourselves in these bodies, and by which we are all inter/connected. the stories are curious about how calibrating to love, grief, and awe — to the sheer and miraculous wonders of being — might liberate me-and-us from legacies of violence and open me-and-us to futures of peace/fulness.
the books will be shared here as soon as they’re finished.
