IN PROCESS // reflections from rabun gap: poems & drawings is a series of works made during a creative residency fellowship award at hambidge center for the arts and sciences (ga) in the spring of 2025. it took shape through a challenge to myself on each full day of my stay: morning, noon, and night, write a 10-line poem and sketch a simple line drawing, both freehand with sharpie on printer paper, to explore how to use only the most essential words and marks to convey sometimes very complex observations; to force myself out of perfectionism and the constant instinct to erase/revise; and to generate a short and complete project within the dates of my residency fellowship (and in addition to the projects i went there to focus on). the resulting piece will be turned into a chapbook and shared here as soon as it’s finished.
